Waaaa parents are so annoying they blocked MSN on me until I'm 18...

Luckily my parents think Guild Wars is an offline/singeplayer game (thanks to heroes!)

ebay....the devil's website....delve deeper into the workings of paypal and you'll see what's coming. Oh yes, you'll see...

on-topic - as a kid I'd probably have been against the idea of playing computer games with my parents, and yet now, as an adult, I'd probably be quite happy to play computer games with any kids I have in the future.

Haven't started spawning, but I did play StarCraft/Diablo II/several other games a lot with my father some years back.

Aww, what a nice thought. My parents (well my mum) doesn't think I stay in contact enough whilst I'm at uni, but I'm always on Guild Wars. Problem is there is too large of a generation gap; it would be impossible to get them playing. The closest came when my dad and I used to play simple games on our old N64, but Guild Wars would just be too complicated.

Which is a pity, as they would not only be able to keep in touch in a fun way, but they'd really benefit from the escapism and relaxation it can bring.

I did however try to introduce other family members and friends, but that was unsuccessful. GW2 will be a different story; they will. At the time of it's release, I will be even harder to contact as I hope move elsewhere in the world, and you'll be able to find me online there for definite!

Will be interested in hearing the stories that come from this investigation...

One of the big reasons I actually started playing Guild Wars over three years ago was to help stay in touch with someone who moved overseas. It gave us an activity that we could do together even from far away.

It depends on the community response that the NCsoft contact gets from not just Guild Wars, but other NCsoft titles. So if there is a decent response, we may see something come of this effort.

Just a thought to help in getting this kick off

how about a Family PvP day sound to you? with prizes, you can interview the entrants easily. I am sure more people will be interested if there's an even tie to it.

Price the "Jones Family Cape" (example)

just a thought.

cheers.

I started playing Guild Wars to keep in touch with my brother, who lives on the other side of our apartment. I'm not sure if that counts.

I think that this is a good idea, while I cannot imagine my parents ever playing any video game, for those younger families out there I think this could be very useful. It's not going to be for everyone, but it does work very well for those that have such mutual interests to begin with. As I stated before, I would be very interested to see the statistics for this when they come out.

My step dad said he's going to buy GW2 when it comes out for the both of us so we have an account each, so he can see what's so interesting about it, but as for now he says he'll do with late night telly and take-out.
